Die "Europäische Bibliographie zur Osteuropaforschung (EBSEES)" weist Bücher, Zeitschriftenaufsätze, Rezensionen und Dissertationen zu Osteuropa (den früheren kommunistischen Ländern Osteuropas) nach, die in Belgien, Deutschland, Finnland, Frankreich, Großbritannien, den Niederlanden, Österreich und der Schweiz im Zeitraum zwischen 1991 und 2007 publiziert wurden. Der Fachausschnitt "Literatur" und "Kultur" der Europäischen Bibliographie zur Osteuropaforschung EBSEES enthält ca. 18.000 bibliographische Angaben (von insg. 85.000). | Anmerkung | This article presents Nicholas I in an unusual light. It shows that the tsar's position towards France did not result so much from the despotic voluntarism relayed by his posthumous legend as from an aspiration to scrupulously respect established laws and regulations. An analysis of unpublished diplomatic dispatches in which two French ambassadors to St. Petersburg, count de La Ferronnays and duke de Mortemart relate their conversations with the tsar, allows us to show that Nicholas I was very well informed about France's internal situation under Charles X and that he pronounced himself against the ultra (royalist, conservative and catholic) currents of French society because they threatened to disrupt the French political balance.
