AbstractNear the end of World War II, as the Red Army was advancing on this old Prussian city, German soldiers hurriedly packed up -- for evacuation to Germany -- a priceless amber room given by Prussia to Peter the Great in 1716. Its fate has become one of the great mysteries of the war.
