Note | "Javornik examines the extent to which literary and other artistic phenomena may be seen as reflecting the evolution of human behaviour. The psychohistorical method, combining psychoanalysis, logic, history of literature and culture, allows changing relationships to the world to be seen as expressions of different stages in the development of individual identity, and seeks to connect knowledge about these stages with the development of collective consciousness. A detailed study of characters in literature/art makes possible a theory of psycho-types, based on Bakhtinian notions of dialogicity. The potentialities of this approach are explored with reference to the similarities between Russian avant-garde forms of the late 1920s and contemporary cyberculture." |
