The European Bibliography of Slavic and East European Studies (EBSEES) collects books, journal articles, reviews and dissertations from Eastern Europe (former countries of Eastern Bloc) which were published in Belgium, Germany, Finland, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland from 1991 to 2007. The segment "Literature" and "Culture" of the European Bibliography of Slavic and East European Studies contains 18.000 bibliographic entries (from the total asset of 85.000). | Note | "This article examines a number of works on the nature of Soviet Marxism and the relationship between ideology and politics in the Soviet Union published in the last decade. They are placed in the context of debates on Soviet ideology since the 1950s, and it is shown how they reflect continuing disagreements between 'totalitarianist', 'conflictualist' and 'structuralist' interpretations. However, it is argued that now that the subject is no longer so politicized a new literature is emerging that lays the foundations for a more convincing account of the influence of Marxism on Soviet practice." |
