Die "Online-Bibliothek der deutschsprachigen Slavistik 1993-2006 (Olbislav)" ist an der Universitätsbibliothek Potsdam als Fortsetzung der Bibliographie der deutschsprachigen Slavistik entstanden. | Abstract | The entry into a new cultural context very often implicates an ambivalent position to the emigré as to the appreciation of the cultural values that he leaves behind and those he meets in the new atmosphere. This situation, taken frequently as a condition of cultural homelessness, can be re-interpreted positively as an opportunity for synthesis, if the émigré is able to establish - even modificated - elements of his original cultural empirical domain in the culture of his new environment. In this view, the activities of critics, journalists and translators are to be seen as special functions of mediation. The example of the literary and musical critic, translator and philosopher Boris de Schloezer (1881-1969) shows, that elements of Russian thinking can be transferred to a new context and melt down into its topical discussions by the critical, translating, commenting activity of the émigré. By this, the ‚critical‘ activity in a larger sense is producing a kind of cultural synthesis and assigns a new, valid place to the speaker within his new sphere of activity. |
